If you’re always busy working, taking care of things around the house and handling your responsibilities, it can be tough to make time forĀ home workouts. As a busy nurse, you probably spend the whole day on your feet when you’re at work, and you might be ready to collapse on the couch as soon as you get home. However, following these tips can help you get in home workouts, even when you don’t really feel up to it.
Take it a Few Minutes at a Time
Dedicating an hour to working out each evening can feel impossible. However, if you break things up into 10- or 20-minute workouts throughout your time at home, you can make a big difference without having to dedicate as much time at once.
Make it a Family Affair
You probably want to spend as much time with your family when you’re at home as possible, which can get in the way of working out. This is why it can be beneficial to make it a true family affair. Challenge your kids to a pick-up game of basketball, or ask your spouse to take a walk with you after dinner. It’ll allow you to get in a bit of activity while spending time with your loved ones, and it’ll probably be beneficial for the others in your household, too.
Make it Enjoyable
If you like to veg out to TV when you’re at home, consider walking in place while you’re watching your favorite shows. If you love to read, consider investing in a treadmill — they’re more affordable than many people think, if you shop around and purchase a very basic model — and walking on it while you’re reading your favorite novels. If you make working out enjoyable, you might find that you’re more likely to make time for it after all.
