Exercising can become tedious if you’re doing the same thing day after day, week after week. If you’ve fallen into this rut and have gotten bored with your fitness routine, don’t cast yourself over the side of a treadmill—it’s time to wake up your body with a fitness makeover! Check out the first five programs; try one—or many—of these fun workouts that are sure to mix things up for you!

Antigravity Yoga

Yoga is fun on its own. But it’s even more fun when you’re hanging from a ceiling in a yoga hammock! These classes are a mental challenge as well as a physical challenge; you go at your own pace as you learn how to move through the yoga poses without ground limitations. Yet it doesn’t matter what your fitness level is—if you’re able to perform two push-ups consecutively, then you can do Antigravity Yoga or Aerial Yoga as it’s also called. At the end of a class, you’ll feel lighter and taller—and relaxed!

Tabata

Everyone’s heard of the seven-minute workout. But Tabata is a four minute workout! If you’re not yet in fit condition, then this workout isn’t for you. But if you’re advanced, Tabata will have you working out like you’ve never done before. This High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) plus circuit training provides terrific exercise for your muscles in addition to your cardiovascular system. Tabata can be performed with weights and is done with a wide variety of exercises—as long as you do something that gets your entire body moving. If you decide to use barbells, kettlebells or dumbbells, select four exercises and perform each exercise as quickly as possible for 20 seconds and rest for 10 seconds; then repeat for 2 more sets. You can also perform a cardio routine; for instance, a 20-second sprint and then a 10-second walk and repeat eight times.

AIRobics

Fun and hard work don’t really go together. But they do if you’re talking about AIRobics, a fat-burning, low-intensity exercise that enhances your energy, coordination and balance using trampolines. These trampoline arena classes are comprised of various fitness activities and combined with certain moves that you can only do on a trampoline. You can just tone up your body but if you need to lose some weight you’ll burn about 1,000 calories in the 50-minute class and you’ll have the time of your life too.

Sprint Triathlon

A regular triathlon comprises a 4-member team to compete against another. But this requires hours of training. Who has that kind of time? Try something that’s shorter distance. A sprint triathlon consists of a 350 meter swim, a 12 mile bicycle ride and a 3 mile run. Also, you don’t need to be experienced in triathlons and you might even discover that you love it and want to go on to the regular triathlon!

Hoopnotica

When was the last time you played with a hula hoop? Get into it again with a weighted hula hoop and a Hoopnotica class! This class will get your heart pumping as much as a cardio kickboxing class and can use up more calories than if you were to do a step class. This is a fun and challenging workout that will have you whirling a hula hoop around your legs, arms, hips and waist. You might not notice how hard you’re exercising because you’ll be concentrating on keeping that hoop where it needs to be. So go ahead—experience your childhood all over again!

How do these sound so far? If you think these sound awesome, wait until you read next week’s blog when we discuss the other five exciting programs.
