It sounds crazy, right?  Jumping around for Fat loss isn’t as crazy as it may sound.  There is a whole list of exercises that work major muscles groups, pump your heart, and burn those irritating stubborn pounds.

Here’s a list of five jumping exercises to include in your routine to boost fat loss.

  1. The Burpee:  Ultimately, the king of full-body conditioning exercises, the burpee works your body from head to toe.  This exercise combines the push-up, the squat jump, and the sprawl for a compound exercise that will leave your lungs and muscles wondering if they’ve every truly worked at all.  There are several burpee progression routines floating around the internet.  I’d suggest picking one and getting started.  You’ll be amazed by the results.
  2. The Box Jump:  For this exercise, you need something stable as a landing platform.  Park benches and jump boxes work well.  Crouch a little, explode (this is the important part) into a jump, and land on the platform.  It’s that simple, but you’ll find out quickly that “simple” is not the same as “easy.”  Try 1-minute rounds of jumps separated by 30-second rests.  This exercise will increase stamina and spark your metabolism to burn more calories throughout the day.
  3. The Squat Jump:  This exercise can be done with a barbell or body-weight.  When using a barbell, try to keep the weight low.  The explosion in your jump is the important part of the Squat Jump, not the weight you’re carrying.  Squat down (good form, please) and jump.  Jump as high as you can.  Repeat.  You can add this exercise into your leg day routine or during your morning run.  Where ever you put it, it will make a difference that you’ll notice before long.
  4. Lunge Jumps:  Similar to the Squat Jump, the lunge jump can be done with a barbell or without.  You can also add this exercise into a weight-lifting program or a cardio program.  The mechanics are easy.  Step into a lunge, jump, switch feet mid-jump, and land in lunge position.
  5. Jump Rope:  Probably the jumpiest of the jumping exercises, jumping rope is an amazing workout.  It burns calories quickly and works the entire body (including those darn calves that give everyone so much trouble!).  One of my favorite things about this exercise is its versatility.  There are so many different things you can do with a jump rope.  Search “jump rope tricks” on the internet and you’ll know what I mean.  If you’re looking for a new way to do cardio and get a break from your boring jogs, this is the way to go.

When it comes to fat loss, these jumping exercise will help excel your body’s reformation.  They’re both easy add-ins to your current routine and exercises to build from anew.  Plus, who doesn’t have fun when their jumping around?
