Are you concerned with better nutrition in your life? Maybe you have been thinking about making some changes to improve your health, or just be more conscious of your impact on the planet. Veganism and vegetarianism are two diet/lifestyle choices that you would benefit from knowing more about.

Veganism is when someone eliminates all animal products from his or her diet, including dairy of all types. Someone may become a vegan due to their moral conviction, health issues or some other reasons.

Vegetarianism means the person does not eat meat, poultry or fish – though they may still eat dairy products. A person can be a lacto-vegetarian who do not eat eggs, or a lacto-ovo vegetarian who eat dairy and eggs. People who are vegetarians have many more reasons for making changes in their diets.

You do not have to avoid all social events if you decide to become a vegan or vegetarian. Here are some ideas to put together amazing dishes for your own party.

Great Alternative Party Food Ideas

Stews and chili are great for Winter parties. You can make them vegetarian or vegan easily. Beans and rice are good choices, just add in spices to make them delicious and unique.

Appetizers with Flair

Put out some cheese combined with red peppers, or create a yummy dip to have with crackers or vegetables. Many people love bruschetta that is more on the simple side, with either some nice Italian bread or soft, toasted home-baked bread.

Another great side or appetizer for a Fall or Winter dinner party is roasted potato wedges. They taste amazing with spices, so you can serve them alone or add in some butter. They also are great with a gravy or spicy sauce.

Meal Ideas

Do you have a mixture of people with different diets? You might set up a buffet of make-your-own tacos. It’s an easy meal that should make everyone happy. Put out rice, beans, maybe some tofu, roasted or grilled veggies, cheese and beef and let everyone have at it!

Salads are usually a safe bet. Lentils taste great with millet, red onions, carrots, olives, dates, different seeds and mint for a unique salad. Try a dressing made out of lemon, orange, dates, lentils, olive oil and a hanout spice blend if you want something creative.

Even with a minimum of free time, you can have it all – better health, renewed energy and an enjoyable social life. Cheers!
