Home workouts can be a great choice for the average adult. After all there are so many real life responsibilities and obligations that make life hectic. It isn’t always possible to set aside time to go to the gym. Having a home based workout can give you the flexibility to workout at your convenience.
However, there are some factors to consider when planning your home workout. Remember, none of these factors should prevent you from starting a home workout routine! It is very possible to workout successfully and get fit at home. These are just some things that you should keep in mind.
- No Coach/Trainer – At most gyms you have the option for a personal trainer or coach. Whether it is a courtesy session upon signing up for a membership or part of your monthly plan, these sessions can be useful. They can teach you what machines to use or exercises to do in order to help you reach your goal. With some home workouts you don’t have the luxury of this. However, our home workouts have trainer tracks. This ensures your success with your home workout by teaching you the proper way to do the exercises.
- No Lessons – Some of the most common injuries received while working out are related to improperly performing exercises, not warming up, and other technique related issues. Without taking part in a class or having the assistance of an expert it can be easy to inadvertently injure yourself. Fortunately with the help of the Beachbody Trainers, it is possible for you to have experts to assist you with your workouts. You may not be going to your local gym, but you can still have the one-on-one personal guidance that can help you develop.
- Maximum Reps/Lifts – This can be a common issue for those who are not used to working out. Working out can be fun, but it should also be challenging. If you are not sweating during the workout or a little sore later on then you may not be working hard enough. It can be hard to motivate yourself to the point where you are uncomfortable, but it can lead to the best results. (Please note that you don’t want to be in severe pain when working out. That can lead to injuries! You need to find that happy medium).
- Accountability- By having a home workout you lose some of the accountability which encourages motivation and consistency. It is much easier to workout consistently if you are paying for a gym membership or a class. One way around this might be to keep a daily log of your routine to chart progress. Or you could work out with your spouse or another family member!
- Lack of Equipment- Weights, mats, and machines can be expensive. One downfall to a home workout is that you may not have everything you need or want in order to get started or follow that DVD workout series. Keep your eye out for sales or check with your friends to see if they have anything lying around that they don’t want. You may need to adjust your workouts around what equipment you do have and slowly add to your collection.
- No Set Plan- Without a plan of what you want to do as part of your workout routine it can be difficult to put a home workout into practice. Don’t be afraid to spend some time brainstorming and researching. Consider your goal, whether it is weight loss or to get stronger. Research exercises that will help you meet those goals. Take a look at what equipment is required, etc. This will help you formulate a plan you can follow.
A home workout can be an excellent option for getting in shape and improving fitness!
