As opposed to machines and barbells, dumbbells require your synergistic (helping) and stabilizer muscles to work harder because they keep the dumbbells under control in all directions of a performed exercise.

Dumbbells take up very little space, even when being used.

Do you want a convenient, low-cost way to propel your metabolism into fat-burning over-drive? Then, try the following dumbbell training circuit, performing the exercises in the order as written. This is a full-body workout in one session.

Do 10 repetitions of each: crunches, bent-over rows, chest press (lying supine on the floor), biceps curl, over-head press, triceps kick-back, stiff-leg dead lifts, goblet squats, and calf raises.

Do the exercises back to back with no rest between them. When you complete one circuit, recover for two to four minutes, and repeat. After three to five circuits, you will have become acquainted with your new best friends, and be on your way to a healthier, better you. Who needs a diamond when you shine like one yourself?
