Why You Should Not Eat So Late At Night

As a busy working woman, you probably worry about yourself last.  You probably work double shifts and fill in where you are needed at work.  You get home from work late and exhausted.  You probably skipped lunch (and because of the time) dinner.  Now it is after nine or ten and all you want is something good to eat, a shower, and your bed.  However it is really not the best to eat so late at night.

Here are some reasons why:

  • Indigestion.  Often, your body is unable to fully digest your food.  It simply sits in your stomach, causing more acid to build up in your stomach.
  • Insomnia.  It can be harder to fall asleep when your stomach is trying to break down the food that you just ate.
  • Overeating.  Often, when people eat late at night, they are usually hungry because they may have missed a few meals.  Then, they tend to overeat and they may end up feeling miserable.
  • Uncomfortable.  After eating too much at night, you might not be able to get into a comfortable position.  This makes it even harder to fall asleep.
  • Snacking too much.  Sometimes, late at night, you might be trying to relax and watch television.  You may not be noticing how much (or what types of) food you are actually shoving into your mouth.
  • Weight.  Late night eating has been shown to increase your body weight, especially if you are starving yourself during the day and eating a lot of fatty foods at night.

Eating late at night is not the best for a woman’s body.  However, everyone does it.  They have work and a family to take care of.  Their nutrition comes last.  Eating too late can cause you to have trouble sleeping and indigestion.  Eating late causes overeating which helps add to the pounds that you would rather lose.  It is time to take care of yourself and try to eat better.
