Have you been having trouble exercising regularly? Are you determined to get your work out done before work and end up sleeping an extra hour instead? Maybe you have decided to exercise after work but you were too hungry so you went out to eat instead of trying to exercise. It is time to make a change and get some motivation so that you can start exercising more consistently. Studies have shown that the most consistent exercisers are the people who get up and exercise in the morning.

So how can you get motivated to get out of bed early in the morning?

  • Go to bed earlier so it will be easier to get out of bed in the morning because you will have enough sleep.
  • Put your alarm clock far away from your bed so that you have to get out of bed to turn it off. Do not get back into bed for a few more minutes.
  • Find a better sound for your alarm clock. Often, the typical alarm clock sound wakes you up quickly. If you find peaceful sounds, you might have an easier time waking up.
  • Once you are up, put on energizing music or a favorite inspirational CD to get you moving in the morning.
  • Find some motivation. Find a picture of how you used to look or a celebrity you admire. Keep it handy. Maybe keep your skinny jeans out so you are motivated to get back into them.
  • If your mornings are hectic, be more prepared. Have your workout clothes ready. Have your work cloths all set up. Make sure your lunch is packed and your breakfast handy before you go to bed. That way, you can just get up, exercise, and then get ready for work.
  • If you go to the gym, find someone to exercise with. That way, you won’t want to back out of a workout and upset your friend. If you exercise at home, just keep tabs with a friend. It is easier to tell someone that you did exercise than if you did not.
  • Make an exercise plan and follow it like it was homework for school or work. Decide what days you are going to work out and what you are going to do. Make sure that you follow them like you had to hand them in to your teacher or a boss. Make it a priority.

It can be very hard to get up in the morning to exercise. However, if you wait, you might find yourself trying to fit in more things from your to-do list, instead of fitting in your workout. To be the most consistent, you really need to get up in the morning and exercise. So, make sure that you have everything set out for the next day and go to bed earlier. Figure out your goals and make an exercise plan that you have to follow. Find some friends to keep tabs on each other so you all get healthy together.
