Tony’s Fitness Tips

  1. Friends- Workout buddies are always recommended because it helps hold you accountable and you can encourage each other. Tony goes so far as to go even further with this. He states that you ARE the company you keep, so work out with high achievers and not the slackers. Motivate each other by working hard.
  2. Fun – Tony thinks that in order for your fitness quest to be successful you need to have fun and passion. You can’t be working out because you “have to” you need to WANT it.
  3. Consistency – 5 to 7 days a week is what Tony recommends in order to see great results. Do you want to be dogging it? Or do you want to be progressing? Do you want to survive or skate by? Or do you want to excel?
  4. Variety – Variety prevents boredom and can help you grow stronger and fit. By promoting variety in your workout you are forcing your muscles to work in different ways. You may get results much more quickly this way.
  5. Volume – No, not literal musical volume. Instead Tony encourages adding volume to your work out whether it is increasing the frequency, duration, weight, reps, etc. Whatever it is, do MORE. It is only through pushing yourself will you gain results.
  6. Yin – Whether it is massage or meditation, you need to do something to help your body rest. If you are working out 5-7 days a week and following the rest of Tony’s tips, your body needs to heal and recuperate.
  7. Planning – You need a plan and schedule. Be sure to know what you are doing, what time, how many, what weight, who you are doing it with, etc. Keep track! Chart your progress! Make goals like 20 workouts a month, or 5 workouts a week, etc.

Following Tony Horton’s tips are sure to help you be successful in achieving your fitness goals!
