Almost everyone looking to lose weight has become overly excited at the beginning of a new diet or fitness routine, only to experience less than stellar results after just a few days of hard work, which resulted in them giving up. Later on, the excitement returns, only for the sense of defeat to kick in when the scale doesn’t move as quickly as they would like it to. Although the motivation to live a healthier lifestyle is there in the beginning, it quickly fades when the pounds just won’t budge.

The problem is, most people give up at the beginning of a weight loss program while their body is still undergoing major changes. If you are eating healthy foods and exercising on a daily basis, your body is making positive changes whether or not you see them in the mirror or on the scale. When you start a new fitness routine, the body will undergo a period of adjustment, where its fluid levels will fluctuate. This can cause the scale to not reflect the hard work you have been putting in at the gym. It can also cause your body to retain fluids, giving it a ‘puffy’ appearance and causing your pants to fit a little more tightly. All of this will balance itself out if you simply stick with your new routine.

Consistency is the key to achieving your dream body. Once you have begun a new healthy-eating lifestyle and workout routine, you must stick with it for a period of at least two weeks to give your body a chance to adjust. Once this adjustment period has passed, you will begin to see positive changes to your body that will reflect all of your hard work. The scale will begin moving in the right direction, and you’ll soon find that you need a smaller clothing size. In turn, this will give you the motivation you need to keep going.

No matter if you need to lose 10 or 100 pounds, simply stick with it. Consistency and determination will guarantee your success.
