Some people say it’s magical because of the abundant benefits to your beauty as well as your health. Just a small amount of this natural remedy can be added to your balanced diet to reap the wonderful rewards. What is it? Apple cider vinegar!
Apple cider vinegar has high levels of malic acid and potassium which makes it a good source to maintain a healthy body. It’s a natural mixture which many people feel good about putting into their bodies. But you have to be careful and not overdo it—remember, everything in moderation! Like all vinegars, apple cider vinegar has a high acid content and you should only ingest no more than 2 teaspoons, three times per day. Never drink it by itself! Always mix the apple cider vinegar with either 8 or 16 oz. of juice or water. Apple cider vinegar has a very strong smell and there is a sweeter version that you can try if just adding it to water or juice doesn’t work for you; mix 2 teaspoons with 12 oz. of water and 1 teaspoon of honey and apple juice. There are a few people who also mix apple cider vinegar into homemade salad dressings. Be sure to check with your physician before adding any supplements to your diet.
Beauty Benefits
- If you blend 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 tablespoon of orange juice, you can get rid of age spots. Just apply it to the affected skin twice a day and you should start to see results within a few weeks.
- You can apply apple cider vinegar directly to your skin to help clear up acne. The acne will dry out due to the acid in the apple cider vinegar and new skin will grow in its place.
- Since apple cider vinegar has anti-fungal attributes, it’s good to soak your feet in it; just mix 8 oz. of apple cider vinegar with 2 gallons of warm water. Soaking your feet for 30 minutes each day is great for tired feet, Athlete’s Foot and toenail fungus.
- Control the pH in your T-zone area of your face which is your chin, nose and forehead. Combine 8 oz. of water with 4 oz. of apple cider vinegar, shake well and blot lightly with a cotton ball on your T-zone or your whole face. Store this toner in a dry, cool, dark area.
- Mix 8 oz. of water with 1½ tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to produce shine and body in your hair. After shampooing, work the mixture into your hair and then rinse. This mixture also treats an itchy scalp, dandruff and also promotes hair growth.
- Add 8 oz. of apple cider vinegar to your bath water to ease your sunburn. Soak in the tub for 10 minutes.
- Apple cider vinegar has increased levels of vitamins and, as such, helps decrease varicose veins. There are two ways to treat these veins. One way is to soak a bandage or cheesecloth in apple cider vinegar. Then lie down and elevate your feet; put the soaked cloth or bandage onto the varicose veins and leave it there for 30 minutes. This should be done two times a day. The second way to treat the veins is to drink daily a mixture of 1 pint of warm water, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 3 tablespoons of sugar. But don’t be impatient—your varicose veins won’t start to disappear until about a month or so later.
Health Benefits
Drink a mixture of 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in 8 oz. of water, three times per day and it can:
- Break down mucus to fight sore throats and sinus infections.
- Alleviate any heartburn or acid reflux.
- Stabilize your blood sugar—which is a great thing for people who have Diabetes.
- Decrease blood pressure and bad cholesterol.
- Encourage good digestion.
- Assist with weight loss by letting your body use the broken down fats, instead of storing them. For weight loss, you should drink 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar blended in 16 oz. of water.
For these benefits, mix and drink before bedtime 1 or 2 teaspoons of honey, 1 or 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and 8 oz. of water to:
- Diminish arthritis pain and bone pain.
- Help relax the nerves and decrease stress.
As previously mentioned, always discuss it with your doctor before adding a supplement to your diet. It’s vitally important that you talk to your doctor first if you have one of these serious health problems: high blood pressure, chronic heartburn, diabetes, ulcers or high cholesterol. While apple cider vinegar is safe for numerous adults, it’s possible that it might interfere with some prescriptions you may be taking for any of these conditions. If you get the “okay” from your doctor, you’ll definitely experience some of the terrific benefits of apple cider vinegar.
