We’ve all had those months where it seems like it’s all we can do to just juggle our schedule and get ourselves from point A to point B. Unfortunately, when we’re so busy, the first thing to go is usually our healthy eating habits. There are many misconceptions about what it takes to eat healthy; that you must cook everything at home, that it takes more work, and that it’s more expensive. In reality, healthy food is completely attainable, even with a jam-packed schedule. Here are three healthy snacks ideas for on-the-go nutrition:

1) Avocado on Brown Rice Crackers

Avocados are loaded with healthy fats and vitamins and have more potassium than bananas. While eating too many of them can be detrimental because of their high fat content, they’re great in moderation. All it takes is smashing one half an avocado up with some salt, pepper and lemon and slathering it on a brown rice cracker to give yourself a delicious and easy snack.

2) Bananas with Peanut Butter

Nut butters are high in protein and healthy fats, giving you a great boost of energy when you’re struggling through a busy day. For a super simple snack, try grabbing a pre-packaged single serving of peanut butter like Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter and squeezing it on to a ripe banana for a naturally sweet treat.

3) Lunch Meat and Vegetable Roll-ups

For another easy, savory treat that will fulfill your protein and veggie requirements, try simply wrapping a piece of your favorite lunch meat around a vegetable stick and putting in a Ziploc bag for later. Try this out with different combinations, like prosciutto and carrot or turkey breast and bell pepper. If you’re feeling adventurous, maybe even add some mozzarella to the equation.

When you’re running out the door or just too tired to prepare food, just remind yourself that eating healthy is key to maintaining your energy levels for those busy days. It’s simple and affordable to pack some nutritious snacks for yourself, and it’s worth it in the long run.
