#1 – Omit dressings and sauces in a bottle! From ranch dressing to barbecue sauce, most commercial condiments are loaded with fat, salt, and MSG, all of which can cause health problems and seriously slow-down your weight-loss journey. Consider substituting your favorite dressing with non-fat yogurt spiced with yummy herbs like chives and garlic, or, for a special treat try mixing low-fat mayonnaise with mustard and honey for a delicious honey mustard dressing that is mouth-watering and healthy!
#2 – Say Bye-bye to yeast! Yeasty breads and pastry items stick to your body like glue. They’re difficult to digest and set-up an unhealthy environment inside of your body. For super tasty bread alternatives, try wheat tortillas or other flat-breads that don’t have all of that yeast and promote—instead of limit—your body’s ability to lose fat!
#3 – Cut-out the sweets! You’ve probably heard this one before: basic sugars turn straight to fat, whereas the complex sugars found in fruits give you energy and provide numerous health benefits. If you have a serious sweet-tooth, go for honey and nuts or one small piece of super-dark chocolate instead of a doughnut or candy bar! Plus, Stevia is a wonderful natural alternative to sugar if you want to sweeten coffees or teas without a bunch of fat-inducing calories!
#4 – Say Hello to seeds! From sunflower seeds to flaxseeds and chia seeds, adding seeds to your diet helps to clean your colon and give your body the fiber it desperately craves! WebMD explains that flaxseeds are a wonder food that contain antioxidants, both types of important fiber for your body, and essential Omega-3 fatty acids that have heart healthy effects. Remember: diets rich in fiber promote Fat loss.
#5 – Don’t make food-choice excuses! Chances are, you already know a lot about how to eat healthy in order to promote fat loss. Plus, your body is screaming at you to fill it with nutritious, low-fat items that increase your energy. Often times, we make excuses for bad food-choices based on social events or poor mood. If you’re unsure whether that Holiday party will offer healthy food options, don’t be afraid to bring along an apple or other nutritious snack with you, and, consider eating a healthy meal before you go! If you want to eat something that you know is bad for you just because it makes you feel “good,” consider how the combination of unhealthy food choices you’ve made in the past have led up to the need for fat loss NOW!
